Why Mycelium?
Our capsule formulas are made from organically grown mushroom mycelium on brown rice (often called “myceliated grain”). This is different from 100% fruiting-body extracts, and we label it clearly so you can choose what fits your goals.
Mycelium vs. Fruiting Body
Fruiting body is the above-ground mushroom (cap and stem).
Mycelium is the root-like network the mushroom grows from.
Both can contain naturally occurring mushroom compounds, but they can differ in:
- Compound profile (which molecules are present and in what ratios)
- Fiber and polysaccharide content
- How the material is grown and processed
- How it’s used (capsules vs tinctures)
Why we use mycelium for capsules
- Easy daily routine — simple, consistent, travel-friendly
- Whole-material format — not a concentrated extract
- Documentable production — made through a controlled cultivation process
What “mycelium on brown rice” means
Mycelium needs a nutrient source to grow. In our capsule formulas, the mushroom mycelium is cultivated on organic brown rice. The finished material is then processed into a capsule-friendly powder.
If you’re comparing products, the key is to compare like with like (mycelium-based vs fruiting-body extract), and choose the format that matches your routine.
Quick comparison
| Format | What it is | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Capsules (mycelium-based) | Whole cultivated material (mycelium grown on organic brown rice) | Simple daily routine | Clearly labeled as mycelium-based |
| Tinctures (fruiting-body extracts) | Extracted compounds from the mushroom fruiting body | People who prefer liquid formats | Concentrated extract format |
Label transparency you can verify
- We state mycelium-based vs fruiting-body extract directly on the label.
- We list the substrate (organic brown rice) for mycelium-based capsules.
- We include processing notes where relevant (without hype or vague “proprietary blend” wording).
